It includes the Central Station Square, one of the most important works of the Italian Rationalism of the thirty’s. It was constructed on the apse of the Santa Maria Novella Basilica, one of the most important churches in Florence. Towards the east side we find the pedestrian and shopping area of Via Tornabuoni and Piazza della Republica. Walking along the Arno River we reach Ponte Vecchio, the most ancient bridge of Florence and the only one saved from the vicissitudes of the Second World War. The present construction dates back from the twelve century, but initially it was constructed by the Romans, in the point where the Arno was more tightened and around which the roman Colony of Florentia was developed. In the middle Ages becomes the heart of the goldsmith craftsmen, subdivided in many small shops, still today existing. In the middle of the bridge, we see on both sides, evocative panoramic arched looking at the river. Above of the bridge runs the Vassariano Corridor that connects Pitti Palace to the Uffizi Gallery. Towards the West side we find the zone of the Village Ognissanti, more popular but equally evocative. Apartments for rent in Centro Ovest
